I've created this page because I want to make a difference. I'm inspired by the work of Alzheimer's Research UK and wanted to support them by raising money as part of my participation in Swimming Down Dementia 2019. I have set myself the challenge of swimming the length of English Channel - 34km that’s 2,125 lengths of the pool.
My lovely Dad had Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia. He did very well and coped with these debilitating diseases for several years. He managed to live at home with carers and family help until the last 8 months of his life and unfortunately had to go into hospital and then a residential home. The home was very good.
It was so sad seeing the life drain out of him, he was such an active person. Always wanting to help others. In his working life he was a lithographic artist, did national service then a clergyman, the latter for 30 years and a Canon of Lincoln Cathedral.
His love of art, music and life still live on.
Please help me help them by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button. The more people that know about Alzheimer's Research UK, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
